Ruiru

The Ruiru Rehabilitation Centre is a registered NGO located 22 kilometers outside Nairobi, Kenya, that serves as a home to children rescued from the streets, orphaned by HIV/AIDS, or entrusted to the center by family members unable to give them proper care.

We welcome children between the ages of 3 and 18 and provide them with shelter, basic necessities, and formal education.

The center is a safe haven that cultivates joy and laughter, a foster family with brothers and sisters who can relate, a place where one can dream of a better future, and where hurts from the past find healing in an environment of love, care, and affection.

The center has come a long way since its modest beginnings in 1997, thanks to a generous community of local residents and expatriates from all over the world who believed in our vision and have supported our mission all along.

Today, the success of the center continues to rely on the support and generosity of people and organizations in and outside the Ruiru community.

The center gives back to the community by ensuring that the kids rescued from the streets of Ruiru, from broken homes, and from difficult circumstances grow to become educated, responsible, and self-reliant adults who will contribute to the betterment of their own communities and promote and live up to environmental sustainability.

“A place called home, where children are given a chance to improve their lives and have a brighter future.”
